Rate The Court ("we", "us") runs the Rate The Court app for iPhone and Android and the website ratethecourt.com. This policy explains what information we collect, why, and the choices you have. Questions: support@ratethecourt.com.
Information you give us
- Account information: your email address, used to sign you in with a one-time code and to contact you about your account. We don't use passwords.
- Profile: the display name you choose, your favorite sport (tennis, pickleball or both), and your home city if you add it. Your display name is shown publicly next to your reviews.
- Disclaimer acceptance: the date you accepted the in-app disclaimer and which version you accepted.
- Content you post: court listings (name, address, location and details), reviews, ratings, comments and photos. Approved courts and your reviews are public in the app and on this website.
- Reports and blocks: if you report content or block another user, we keep a record so moderators can act on it.
Location
If you allow it, the app uses your device's location to center the map near you. Your live location is used on your device only and is not stored on our servers. When you add a court, the court's map location is saved with the listing.
Information collected automatically
Our hosting and database providers keep standard server logs (such as IP address, device and browser type, and time of request) for security and troubleshooting. We don't use analytics or tracking tools on the website.
Advertising
The free version of the app may show ads from Google AdMob. If ads are shown, AdMob may collect device identifiers and usage data to show and measure ads, as described in Google's advertising policies. On iPhone you'll be asked before any tracking for personalized ads, and you can limit ad personalization in your device settings. To make ads more relevant, the app may send general sport keywords based on your favorite sport (for example, "tennis" or "pickleball") with ad requests. Your name, email and reviews are never sent to advertisers. Supporters who purchase the ad-free upgrade don't see ads.
How we use information
- To run the app and website: sign-in, showing courts and reviews, and letting you post.
- To keep listings accurate and safe: verifying new courts, reviewing reports, and removing spam, fake listings or abusive content.
- To respond to support requests.
We don't sell your personal information.
Who we share it with
We use a small number of service providers to run Rate The Court:
- Supabase: database, sign-in and file storage.
- Resend: sending sign-in code emails.
- Apple, Google and OpenStreetMap: map display. Map requests go to these services.
- Apple App Store and Google Play: processing the optional ad-free purchase. We don't receive your payment card details.
We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect the safety of users or the public.
How long we keep it
We keep your account information while your account is active. When you delete your account, we delete your email, profile, reviews, photos, reports and blocks. Court listings you added stay, but are no longer linked to you, because other players rely on them. Backups roll off within 30 days.
Your choices
- Edit your display name and home city in the app under Account.
- Delete individual reviews in the app.
- Delete your account. See Delete your account.
- Ask for a copy of your data, or ask us to correct it, by emailing support@ratethecourt.com.
Children
Rate The Court isn't directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, contact us and we'll delete it.
Security
Data is sent over encrypted connections, and database access rules limit each user to their own account data. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date above. Significant changes will be announced in the app.
